Why the Lionesses’ Win is a Golden Chance for Women’s Walking Football

Alright, I don’t know about you, but I’m still buzzing after watching the England Lionesses lift that 2025 Euros trophy! What a team, what a performance, what a moment for women’s football.
Now here’s the thing — moments like this don’t come around every day. They get people talking, dreaming, and (most importantly) lacing up their boots. And for us in the walking football world, it’s a golden opportunity we can’t afford to miss.

From European Glory to Local Glory

The Lionesses have shown the whole country that football is for everyone — and that includes women who want to play at their own pace.
Not everyone’s chasing a Wembley final (although if you are, I’ll happily cheer you on), but many women out there are now thinking: “I’d love to give football a try.”
That’s where we step in.

Why Women’s Walking Football Matters

Walking football is perfect for women of all ages, all abilities, and all fitness levels.

And let’s be honest — there’s something brilliant about seeing a pitch full of women, boots on, laughing and playing the beautiful game at a slower pace.

Clubs, This is Your Moment

If you run a walking football club, now’s the time to:

At Lewes, We’re Ready

Here at Lewes Mixed Walking Football Club, we’re already seeing more women at sessions — and it’s brilliant.
We’ve got our women-only Monday evenings at 6pm, plus mixed sessions for anyone who fancies them. And every new face is greeted like an old friend

Your Invitation

So, to every woman inspired by the Lionesses — whether you’re 30 or 70 — there’s a place for you in walking football.
Come along, bring a mate, bring your old football boots (or borrow ours), and see what all the fuss is about.

The Lionesses have lit the fire — now let’s keep it burning in every town, park, and sports hall across the country.

If you’re old enough, you’re good enough.
Sign up here — we’ll see you on the pitch.
