We’re live: the Lewes Lenny News
& Events page π
Big news, team — the Lewes Lenny News & Events hub is
officially launched! It’s a simple, community-powered place where players,
clubs, coaches, charities, leagues, and local organisers can share their
walking-football stories and events. Think tournament round-ups, charity
fixtures, new club launches, kit drives, and those heart-warming “I laced up
again after 30 years” moments we all love.
This page is built for you. It’s all about connection: more
players finding more sessions, more clubs finding more friends, and more
brilliant stories getting the cheer they deserve. If you’re in the UK great. If
you’re elsewhere in the world — brilliant! You’re welcome here too, and I’ll
happily help you find a local club and share your news.
How to contribute (it’s gloriously
simple)
We’ve kept submissions dead easy so you can focus on telling your
story:
- Write your story or event on your usual platform — your
club website, Substack, Medium, local press, Facebook event, wherever.
- Submit the link to our Stories Hub form: just
paste the URL and hit send. That’s it.
- Pop in a headline and a link to the picture URL(optional)
and submit it to the approval queue.
- Once approved, it appears on the
News & Events page so the whole community can see it.
We don’t scrape sites or use RSS — we only share what you submit.
You’re in control of your content.
Pro tips for maximum exposure on your
website
Want more eyes on your story or event? Here’s how to make it shine:
- Clear headline on your page
Put a clean, human headline on the page you’re sharing (we’ll pick it up). Avoid ALL CAPS or clickbait — “Lewes WFC host charity festival for St Anne’s Centre” beats “UNMISSABLE!!!”. - Essentials up top (for events)
Date, time, venue, entry cost (if any), what to wear, who it’s for (all genders/abilities? age ranges?), how to book, and a contact email. A Google Maps link helps new players find you. - One decent image
Add a landscape photo or club crest with alt text. If you can, set an Open Graph image so link previews look tidy. - Keep it inclusive
Walking football is the beautiful game at a slower pace: low-impact, welcoming, great for friendships, fitness, and confidence. Say it proudly. - Tag it right
When you share on socials, use a couple of clean tags like #WalkingFootball #LewesLenny #SussexFootball and your town/club name. - Tell a mini-story
Five lines about why this matters beats a dry listing. “Maggie’s first session after knee rehab” will always win hearts. - Add a short video if you’ve got
one
A 10–30 sec football clip (skills, warm-ups, passing drills, post-match smiles) helps people feel the vibe. If you want training-tip videos (soccer only), give me a shout and I’ll point you to some good ones.
Who can post?
- Clubs (mixed, women’s,
walking-only)
- Tournament/league organisers
- Charities and community groups
- Coaches and physios running
return-to-play sessions
- Individual players with something
lovely to share
- Clubs running special needs
sessions
I’ll help you spread the word and help readers find a
walking-football club near them. If you like, I can also send you a starter
guide so you can begin enjoying walking football straight away — even before
you visit Lewes.
What happens after you submit?
- Your link lands in the pending
tray.
- I check it’s walking-football
related, friendly, and helpful.
- Approved items appear on the News
& Events page and may get a shout on the Lewes Lenny Podcast
and Lenny’s Blog for extra sparkle.
A few house rules (nice and simple)
- Keep it kind. We celebrate fun,
friendship, and community — not point-scoring.
- Family-friendly language and
images only.
- Accessibility matters: make it
clear if your venue has step-free access or parking.
- No hard sells; community first.
- We may edit the display headline
for clarity, but your original page stays exactly as you wrote it.
Health & safety (a quick word)
All activities are taken at your own risk. If you have any health issues
or you’re recovering from an injury, please consult your doctor or physio
first — then tell me what your health issue or injury is and I’ll help you
choose the gentlest way back in.
Spread the word, help the game grow
The more we share, the more people discover walking football — and the
more lives we brighten. Pop your link into the News & Events hub, send it
round your mates, and if you fancy hearing more stories and tips, the Lewes
Lenny Podcast is a lovely listen over a cuppa. I’ve also written blog posts
with extra ideas if you’re planning your first session or your next community
tournament.
If you’re organising something special, tell me early — we can boost it
on the site, mention it on the podcast, and give it a nudge on socials:
